BOLINGBROOK, IL — Two Bolingbrook residents face battery charges after they became belligerent with police officers following a traffic stop on Wednesday night and assaulted police after refusing to get out of their vehicle, police said on Friday.

Raniesha Darring, 19, and Jamiel McDonald, 18, were both taken to the Will County Jail following the incident, which took place at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. Officers stopped the vehicle near Deerfield Drive and Ashbury Avenue for equipment moving violations.

But during the traffic stop, both McDonald, who was driving, and Darring ignored police commands and physically resisted efforts by officers to take the pair into custody, police said. Darring refused to get out of the vehicle when asked and when officers attempted to remove her from the vehicle, Darring became physical and struck the officer, police said.
