Bolingbrook Residents Qualify for State's Special Olympics Winter Games

State's winter games will be held Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 in Galena.

Two residents qualified for the state's Special Olympic Winter Games after receiving gold medals at the Special Olympic District Winter Games at the Bartlett Hills Golf Curse on Jan. 8.

Both Sally Davidek and Mark Oftedahl won gold medals and competed as part of the Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association team.

Davidek won both the 50-meter and 100-meter races. Oftedahl, meanwhile, finished first in the 200-metter race and also snagged a silver medal in the 400-meter race.

The state's winter games will be held Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 in Galena.

The Joliet Bolingbrook Special Recreation Association, according to the Bolingbrook Park District website, is a cooperative extension of the Bolingbrook Park District, Joliet Park District, and Plainfield Park District that provides year-round recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.
