Coordinators Expect 'Powerhouse' Crowd for Bolingbrook's 'Day of the Immigrant'

This year marks the seventh for the local event, which drew more than 10,000 attendees last year.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - In the spirit of rallying for immigrant rights, an annual celebration marches on in Bolingbrook this week, and coordinators are expecting an impressive turnout.

The 7th Annual Day of the Immigrant is set to kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Road. The nine-hour event drew more than 10,000 attendees in 2016, leading coordinators from the Southwest Suburban Immigrant Project to declare that it officially, "claimed its spot as a powerhouse in the southwest suburbs."

"This year's event will be just as spectacular as we continue to support SSIP's mission of community organizing for the rights of immigrants in Chicago's southwest suburbs through education, civic engagement, and advocacy," they said, in a community alert.
