First F.A.N.S. Community Training Set for Tonight

The nationally-recognized F.A.N.S. program is designed to allow local residents and students the opportunity to interact during high hallway traffic times before school, during lunch periods and after school.

Community members who want to volunteer their time as Friends, Families and Neighbors Supporting Students (F.A.N.S.) at or or at all five middle schools must attend one of several scheduled training sessions, the first of which will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21.

The nationally-recognized F.A.N.S. program is designed to allow local residents and students the opportunity to interact during high hallway traffic times before school, during lunch periods and after school.

Valley View officials are hopeful that new F.A.N.S. will join the nearly 100 F.A.N.S. who have been part of F.A.N.S. since the program was launched two years ago at BHS. RHS F.A.N.S. began last year, as did small F.A.N.S. programs in the middle schools.  

All training sessions will be held at the , 755 Dalhart Ave. in Romeoville.

In addition to training, information will be passed out regarding state-required fingerprinting and background checks.

Other planned training sessions include:

  • Oct. 22, 10 a.m. to noon
  • Nov. 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Feb. 18, 10 a.m. to noon
  • March 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • April 21, 10 a.m. to noon
