3. BHS Football Player Featured in Chicago Tribune
From a Chicago Tribune article:
Chandler Piekarski pointed an index finger toward the sky while stealing a glance at family members.
The play went as scripted that Friday night during a Week 3 victory against Joliet Central.
The Bolingbrook tight end carried a heavy heart into the end zone for his first varsity touchdown three days after his father, Dave Piekarski, 53, died of Sepsis, a severe blood disease.
"It really took a lot off my heart," Piekarski said. "Football was my escape, and my dad started me in that. The coaches gave me that play and I know he was proud of that."
