Hostage Report Was Erroneous: Bolingbrook Police

Bolingbrook police said a caller reported that someone they knew had been taken hostage Saturday morning.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook police responded Saturday morning to a report of a hostage situation that turned out to be erroneous, according to officials. Around 11:18 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive after a caller said they received a phone call from "an associate" who said they were being held against their will at gunpoint.

Officers established a perimeter, evacuating nearby apartments as a precaution.

Police were able to make contact with the occupants of the apartment, who voluntarily left, and told officers that at no time was anyone being held against their will, nor did anyone have a gun.
