Humphrey Honors Its 'Queen of Spelling Bees'
Kimberly Belser received flowers and special framed poem authored by Humphrey eighth grade language arts teacher LaDonya Watts.

faculty, staff and administrators gathered Wednesday morning to celebrate seventh-grader Kimberly Belser’s Will County Spelling Bee championship.
Belser received flowers as well as a special framed poem authored by Humphrey eighth grade language arts teacher LaDonya Watts and autographed by various Humphrey teachers.

The poem, entitled To the Queen of the Spelling Bees, read:
Is it a star? I see something bright!

Wait, I know, it’s Kim Belser’s light!
She studies so hard, so humbly she tries.
And her efforts have won her the Will County prize!
We are so very proud to know
An awesome student like you.
When your future becomes your present,
We’ll say “We always knew!”
Continue to calmly climb the success ladder
And secure that your dreams become true!
You will make Humphrey proud in Washington, D.C.
And in whatever else in your life that you do!
Belser will now move on to the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. May 31 through June 2.
