Large Fight In Park Leads To Recovery Of Loaded Pistol: Police

Bolingbrook Police have charged a juvenile who they said had a loaded 40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine at Blackhawk Pond Park.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — What started as Bolingbrook Police breaking up a large fight among kids in a local park Thursday afternoon led to officers recovering a loaded handgun from a juvenile, police said.

Police were called to Blackhawk Pond Park after multiple calls of a large fight were made to police around 2:45 p.m., police said. While no one was injured in the fight, police determined that one juvenile had a loaded .40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine from the juvenile, police said.

The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of firearm ammunition and resisting a police officer, and obstructing a police officer, police said.

Police provided no other information about the incident but said there were no victims found to be associated with the fight.
