At one time, Mr. Transmission in Bolingbrook did not have a good reputation. But that was before Chuck Slukis bought the business in June and turned it around.
"Before I was here, it wasn't too good of a shop," Slukis said.
Slukis knew about the reputation, but bought the business anyway.
"That didn't really bother me because I don't go by other people's reputation; I go by my own," he said.
Slukis has been working on cars for more than three decades. He knew going into business for himself meant that he could guarantee the work and the customer service in his shop.
"I believe in honesty, that's the best thing you can do," he said. I don't do unecessary work that people don't need."
In addition to quality work (he has all ASC certified mechanics), Slukis built a business that does more than just transmissions.
"We do everything, we're actually a Milex too," he said.
Mr. Transmission is at 104 Brook Court in Bolingbrook. They are across the street from Menards.
