Noodles Pho U opened its doors in Bolingbrook about four months ago, in a location that used to house Bok Choy.
"A lot of people know us from that," Amanda Cecil, assistant manager said. "We're new owners; Bok Choy is no more."
The restaurant, which boasts a minimalist decor, also attracts a lot of customers who want to try pho.
"We'll get people who come in from watching Food Network and they really want to try pho," Cecil said. "That’s what we specialize in because there is nothing in his area that has the Vietnamese food like we do."
Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup. It consists of broth, rice noodles, herbs and meat or seafood.
In addition to pho, the restaurant serves Chinese, Thai and Korean dishes.
On a recent visit to the restaurant, I ordered a combination noodle bowl. The broth of the bowl was fantastic. It was served with a side of bean sprouts, herbs and lime as well as jalapenos.
In addition to the bowl, I ordered summer rolls, which are like egg rolls, but wrapped in rice paper. The pork variety has a mini egg roll inside, so because of my wheat sensitivity, I could not eat them.
The shrimp version was good at the first bite, but subsequent bites had way too much mint for my taste. Both the peanut sauce and fish sauce were delicious.ou
Noodles Pho U is at 546 E. Boughton Road.
