Blending pets and babies under one roof has its delights, its drawbacks, and its dangers. Research shows that having a furred animal in the household helps children build stronger immune systems as they grow and reduces their likelihood of developing allergies and asthma. "If a dog has good rules and manners at home, anything that you bring home ... they have to become respectful of it," he told Thomas.

So we ask: How do you deal with newborn babies and dogs?
