Park Commissioners Meet Next Week to Choose Finalists For Executive Director Position

Commissioners will meet in an executive session on March 7, closed to the public, to choose finalists.

Board of Commissioners are moving full steam ahead in their quest to fill .

Commissioners received nearly 20 applications for the post last held by , 44, who died last fall after her battle with cancer. They will meet in an executive session on March 7, closed to the public, to choose finalists.

“Every commissioner got a copy of all the applicants and they’ve had them for about two weeks so now we need to narrow it down,” Board President Al Traczek said. “Then we’ll go from there to see if we can agree and maybe invite five or six for interviews.”

Applicants hailed from the Chicago area to as far as Missouri, Indiana, Kansas City and even California.

Park officials said they're seeking an executive director “with a proven track record in management and operation of a market-driven recreation service portfolio.”

The Bolingbrook Park District employs 63 full-time employees and more than 538 part-time and seasonal employees.

Traczek said earlier this month he would like to see the position filled within a month to six weeks.
