Police Blotter: Money, Jewelry Taken in Home Burglaries

Friday, Aug. 26

1. Car window smashed in

A car window was broke with a large rock while it was parked on the 300 block of Cobb Circle between Aug. 26 and Aug. 27.

2. Illegal possession of alcohol by a minor

Hampamgo Moono, 19, of the 1400 block of Schoenherr Avenue was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and Derien Samuels, 31 of the 200 block of Bedford Park Road, was charged with illegal liquor access following a traffic stop on the 400 block of North Bolingbrook Drive at 11:30 p.m.

3. Bike stolen

A gray and black bicycle was taken from a home on the 500 block of Leslie Lane between 11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. Loss valued at $200.

4. Clothing jacked from car

A window was broken to a car parked on the 500 block of Janes Avenue and two bags of clothing were taken between 5:25 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

5. Car stereo stolen

A car stereo and iPod Touch were taken from a secured car parked on the 200 block of Dakota Court sometime overnight. Loss valued at $400.

6. Car damaged

Police were called to the 100 block of South Schmidt Road for the report of criminal damage to a car. Two dents were found on the car parked in the driveway at 10:58 a.m. The victim told police they heard a loud noise and discovered the damage.

7. DUI

Michael Herrera, 23, of the 300 block of Whitewater Drive, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage following a traffic stop on the 400 block of Pinecrest Road at 1 a.m.

8. Retail theft

Police responded to the Meijer at 225 N. Weber Rd. for the report of a retail theft. Video shows an unknown offender removing 13 bottles of liquor from the store shelves, placing them in a bag and exiting the store between 7 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.

9. Driving on suspended license

Carolos Lopez-Rocha, 35, of 200 Mill Street, was charged with obstruction and driving on a suspected license following a traffic stop on the 300 block of South Schmidt Road at 3:15 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 25

Residential burglary

Police were called to Wildwood Lane for the report of a residential burglary. A homeowner told police that the front door was forced open and a gold necklace and various personal documents were taken between 11 a.m. and 2:54 p.m.

10. Probation violation

Jamal Watson, 36, of the 200 block of Porter Lane was charged with a probation violation on the 200 block of Porter Lane at 7:08 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 23

11. Money stolen from home

Police were called to the 1500 block of Firethorn Drive for the report of a residential theft. A homeowner told police that $200 was taken from a bedroom between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 15

12. Stolen earrings pawned off

A pair of earrings were taken from a home on the 300 block of Deering Lane between 10:45 a.m and 2:15 p.m. The earrings were later found to have been pawned.
