Police to Hold Citizens Police Academy for Interested Residents
The 10-week free class will be held on Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and begins Oct. 6.
In efforts to strengthen ties with the community, the is again offering a citizen's police academy for local residents.
The 10-week free class will be held on Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and begins Oct. 6.
Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said the department hopes to have about 20 residents in the class.

"We have offered the program in the past and it was successful in building a solid partnership with the community," Rompa said. "It supplies the participants with a better understanding of overall (police) operations and specific units within the police department."
According to the department's website, the purpose of the class is to "give citizens of the community a working knowledge of the Bolingbrook Police Department."

The class will focus on several objectives, including communications, department structure, patrol procedure and functions, traffic accident investigation, traffic enforcement, gangs, drug enforcement and prevention and use of force among other issues.
