UPDATED: Back-to-School Block Party Rained Out
Event, cosponsored by the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation and The Promenade of Bolingbrook, was cut short due to storms.

For the third consecutive year, the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation is partnering with to host the Back to School Block Party.
This year’s event, free to all attendees, will be held today, Aug. 13, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The inside streets of The Promenade will be blocked off so that families can enjoy games and entertainment.

School supplies will be available for purchase and donations of school supplies will also be accepted for families in need during the event. The donated school supplies will be distributed through the Valley View School District with assistance from the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation.
Entertainment will be provided on two stages including bands such as Us Guys and Joe. Other bands will include current and former students from VVSD. Also on hand will be the Pom Pons, Bolingbrook Park District Danceforce, Elite Martial Arts, and others.
The Bolingbrook Park District will have its Climbing Wall and Trackless Train. The Bolingbrook Fire Department’s fire safety house will make an appearance. And a variety of inflatables and games will be available.
, a recently opened restaurant at The Promenade, will offer food and beverages for sale near the band stage.
The foundation is in its 17th year of service to Valley View School District 365-U in Bolingbrook and Romeoville. The Foundation provides funds to grant programs and has surpassed $1 million in funding for nearly 700 programs designed by teachers, administrators, and parents since its inception. The Foundation, a 501 c 3 not-for-profit organization, accepts donations from area residents, organizations, and businesses at events like this and other events throughout the year.
