Road Work At I-55, Joliet Road Begins On Oct. 16

WILL COUNTY, IL — Ramp closures at Interstate 55 and Joliet Road in Bolingbrook and Romeoville will begin on Oct. 16, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. IDOT is patching and resurfacing Joliet Road from I-55 in Bolingbrook to Sherman Road in Romeoville.

Northbound Joliet Road to Interstate 355 (northbound and southbound) will have a full ramp closure starting at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 16. IDOT said the project will take about one week. Drivers should follow the posted detour during this time.

Outbound I-55 to Joliet Road will see a partial ramp closure starting at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 16. This work will take two to three weeks, and at least one lane will remain open at all times, according to IDOT.

Northbound Joliet Road to inbound I-55 will also have a full ramp closure, which will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 23. IDOT said the project will take one week, and drivers should follow the posted detour.

The project, which will cost $2.3 million, also includes construction of new shoulders and replacing deteriorated curbs. The project should be done before the end of the year, according to IDOT.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, IDOT said in a release. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
