St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Leads To 43 Citations: Bolingbrook PD

Police also made five traffic-related arrests during the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook police's St. Patrick's Day enforcement yielded a total of 43 tickets, officials said.

During the March 8-17 campaign, officers stepped up impaired driving and seat belt enforcement, particularly at night when usage is typically the lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and all traffic laws were also strictly enforced, Patch reported.

Citations issued include the following:

  • 7 for improper seat belt usage
  • 2 for distracted driving during the day
  • 6 for spending during the day
  • 6 for speeding at night
  • 22 other enforcement contacts

Police also made five arrests related to traffic incidents, including four during the day and one at night, according to a news release.

"We enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," officials wrote in the release. "Please remember that one of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up — every trip, every time, and double check all child safety seats!"

Bolingbrook police joined forces with state and local law enforcement agencies for the campaign paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
