Yellow Dot Program Could Save Lives

Bolingbrook Police Department serves as a distribution point.

Bolingbrook police officials hope to paint the town yellow through a partnership with the Department of Transportation Safety.

The Yellow Dot Program has two pieces to it. The first is a yellow dot sticker that goes in the back window of your car. The second is a packet that goes in your glove compartment that lists health history, emergency contact information and medications, just to name a few.

Officials said the program can help paramedics in the critical hour. Because of this, the is serving as a yellow dot program distributor.

“We feel it will enhance our emergency responder's ability to assist an individual in need, in an expedited fashion,” Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said. “Timing is often critical with medical emergencies. This program will enhance our service to the Bolingbrook residents and for those who visit our community.”

The program not only helps the owner of the vehicle, but also provides an opportunity for the passengers and other drivers of the vehicle to store their information as well. The packet has a place for a photo so in an emergency, the right person’s information can be found.
