CCSD21 to receive nearly $5K from state for libraries

Community Consolidated School District 21 is set to receive $4,969.89 from the state of Illinois through the School District Library Grant Program.

The program is designed to support library media services for eligible public school districts in the state based on qualified school library(ies) serving K-12 students each year.

The figure will be split between the district’s 12 library and media centers. Over the years, the grant money has made it possible for each school’s library media and enrichment specialists to purchase print and nonprint materials for students that go above and beyond their school’s annual library budget, providing additional resources for students to check out and experience when they visit the library.

Previous purchases have included books to support the district’s diverse populations and students with special needs; Caudill, Bluestem and Monarch award-winning books; and books that are printed in multiple languages that give students access to read in their heritage language.
