Gas Price Update: Buffalo Grove, State Prices Continue Falling

The average price in Illinois is currently $5.08, down from $5.23 one week ago and $5.55 last month, according to AAA.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — While the average cost of gas in Illinois is still higher than the national average, commuters are seeing some relief at the pumps with prices overall coming down. According to AAA, The average price in Illinois is currently at $5.08, down from $5.23 one week ago and $5.55 in June.

The cost of gas in Cook County is still well above the state average, at $5.54, as of Thursday. In Lake County, the average price is $5.17.

Earlier this week, AAA said gas prices have fallen 12 cents nationally since last week. This decline came despite an uptick in demand during the 4th of July holiday. AAA forecasted that a record 42 million people hit the roads for the holiday weekend.

“Usually, more people buying gas would lead to higher pump prices,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “But the price for oil, the main ingredient in gasoline, has fallen and is hovering around $100 a barrel. Less expensive oil usually means less expensive gas.”

Shopping around in Buffalo Grove can lead to some relief at the pump, even if it's minor.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Buffalo Grove is selling for $4.54 per gallon at Woodman's, 1550 Deerfield Parkway.
