Pavement Construction Begins On Buffalo Grove Road Project

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Pavement construction on Buffalo Grove Road, in the intersection with Aptakisic Road, is underway. Crews are also in the process of installing sidewalk and underground conduit, according to a news release.

Traffic patterns continue to change to accommodate project construction. New traffic patterns will be used at the intersection of Aptakisic Road and Buffalo Grove Road starting Monday. Travelers are urged to exercise caution while driving on Buffalo Grove Road and to be alert for the changing traffic patterns.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Watch for workers and flaggers. Please be cautious of trucks coming in and out of the job site. Be alert for new traffic patterns at the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road and Aptakisic Road during the week of Oct. 18.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Buffalo Grove Road from Deerfield Pkwy to IL 22 will be completely reconstructed to provide two lanes of travel in each direction. This includes a center median and turn lanes at all major intersections, according to a news release. A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Thompson Blvd. Crosswalks at each street crossing will be improved and upgraded to ADA standards.

Crews will also connect the bike path gap between Aptakisic Road and Brandywyn Lane making it easier for residents to walk and bike to local parks, schools and shopping areas.

Temporary lane closures may occur a few hours per day to complete major work.

Construction will take place over a two-year period using a staged approach:

• North Section: Focused construction on Buffalo Grove Road from IL 22 to Aptakisic Road, with minor impacts south of Aptakisic.
• South Section: Focused construction on Buffalo Grove Road from Aptakisic Road to Deerfield Pkwy. This includes intersection improvements at Buffalo Grove Road and Aptakisic Road, which will extend to slightly north of Aptakisic.
