The incident occurred Tuesday night on Milwaukee Avenue near Knightsbridge Parkway.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — An 81-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night while walking on Milwaukee Avenue near Knightsbridge Parkway.

The deceased has been identified as Bijan Vaziri, of Lincolnshire, following an autopsy conducted Wednesday by the Lake County Coroner's Office. The preliminary autopsy results indicate Vaziri died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 58-year-old Prospect Heights resident was traveling southbound on Milwaukee Avenue in his Dodge Durango. Vaziri was attempting to cross the street on foot when he was struck by the car. The driver told police he did not see him.

Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with authorities. Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor to the crash at this time, according to police. The driver submitted to chemical testing with results pending.
