Pre-Construction Work Begins On Arlington Heights Road Project

Construction is expected to continue into 2025, according to the Lake County Division of Transportation.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The first step of a reconstruction project of a portion of Arlington Heights Road is expected to begin next week with tree removal. According to the Village of Buffalo Grove and the Lake County Division of Transportation, the project includes a 1.5 mile stretch of the road from IL-83 to Lake Cook Road. The project is expected to be completed in 2025.

The portion of the road being reconstructed runs through the villages of Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and unincorporated Lake County

Officials said the trees being removed will be replace with those not being replaced due to utility requirements in the new medians will instead be replaced by naturalized area plantings.

According to LCDOT, the pavement condition between IL-83 and Lake Cook Road "has reached the end of its service life" and needs to be replaced. The project will include safety and operational improvements to the corridor such as adding turn lanes where they are warranted or to complete sidewalk gaps.

The LCDOT said there are no plans to widen Arlington Heights Road as a part of this pavement replacement project. The project will use motor fuel tax funds to reconstruct the roadway within the project limits. Find out more about the project here.
