UPDATE: Burr Ridge Police Department Called to Scene of Rifle Hoax
Reports of gunfire from a high-powered rifle brought three departments to the scene and closed off a section of Sixth Street in Hinsdale.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, officers of three area police departments responded to reports of several high-powered rifle rounds being fired in Hinsdale.
Police say someone called the dispatch center that fields calls to the Burr Ridge and Hinsdale Police Department to report that they heard shots from a high-powered rifle firing in the area of a house located on the 600 block of South Bruner Street.

After hearing from the homeowner that in fact no shots of any kind were fired, officers determined that the report had been a hoax and are now treating the case as a disorderly conduct incident perpetrated by the person that made the call.
There are currently no suspects and police are working with the dispatch center to develop leads.

"This is a pretty disturbing and alarming incident," Wodka said.
Wodka said he was particularly disturbed by the number of emergency responders called to a scene where there was never any danger.
“We’re treating this very seriously and hope to bring someone to prosecution,” the deputy chief said.
Three area department responded to the scene, including the , and police departments.
Parts of several streets—including Bruner, Sixth, and Adams—were closed for more than an hour during the incident. Wodka could not confirm all the streets that were closed.
In addition to the house on Bruner, police also checked out a house in the 600 block of South County Line Road, where a former owner of the Bruner home currently lives, Wodka said. Everything was normal there, as well.
