VIDEO: To The Families Who Lost A Loved One on 9/11
In their own words, community members express their gratitude and share how the events of September 11 have impacted them.
Ten years after the attacks on September 11, 2001, memorials around the country showed that Americans will always remember the sacrifices that were made that day—not just on the anniversary of that date, but every day.
Community members in the Burr Ridge area share how they were impacted and send messages to those who lost a loved one on September 11 or during Operation Enduring Freedom. Featured in this video are:
- An army reserves major, who shares her perspective as a member of the military. Major Mary Olodun has served in the armed services for 21 years. After traveling across the U.S. to serve her country, she will make Burr Ridge her home next year.
- A member of the Burr Ridge Police Department who shares her perspective on paying the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
- A member of the Tri-State Fire Department who shares his perspective as a firefighter.
- A member of Warrior Watch, a group which organizes escorts for military returning home from the armed services.
- Another member of Warrior Watch, whose friend was killed in the South Tower of the World Trade Center during the attacks.
