Village Center Entranceway Re-Opened After Drunk Driver Causes Emergency Closure

A drunk driver hit a fire hydrant Sunday, closing down the entrance lanes of one of the center's driveways.

An incident involving a drunk driver closed down the entrance lanes of one of the Burr Ridge Village Center's driveways for a few days. The driver hit a fire hydrant near the center's entrance, closing down the entrance lanes of the driveway and the turning lane leading to the entrance on the Burr Ridge Parkway.

"The hydrant is being replaced," said Jenny Balanoff, public works administrative secretary. "It's not impacting anyone's water service."

Balanoff said water service was turned off for the vacant Max and Erma's building, but no residents lost water service.
