2 Stabbed At Rancid-Dropkick Murphys Concert
An argument between the victims and the alleged attacker led to the stabbing Tuesday night.

CHICAGO, IL — Two people were stabbed after an argument turned violent during a concert Tuesday night by Rancid and the Dropkick Murphys at Northerly Island. A 29-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were injured in the attack, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Police arrested the man accused in the stabbing, and charges are pending against him, the report added.
According to police, the victims began arguing with a man at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at bar in Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, the report stated. The fight drifted into the concert area and then escalated. The alleged attacker stabbed the 29-year-old man in the face and neck, and the woman was cut in the stomach, the report added. Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hopsital, where they were in stable condition, according to the report.
A Chicago Park District official had questions Wednesday for the private security firm that screened concert-goers as they entered the event. Chicago Park District General Counsel Tim King told the Sun-Times that he wanted to know how someone was able to smuggle a knife past Monterrey Security, the company in charge of security for the Northerly Island concert. King said the district is working with Chicago police and LiveNation, the promoter who hired Monterrey, to see how the knife got past guards using metal-detecting wands. "Did somebody sneak in a knife in their shoe or throw a knife over the fence? We’re still piecing it together. And if we need to improve security, we will make certain it’s a completely safe environment," King told the Sun-Times.
The city has a 10-year contract with LiveNation and Monterrey for security at Northerly Island concerts, the report stated. Representatives for the promoter and the security firm could not be reached for comment, the report added.
