Baby Of Slain Pregnant Woman Dies: Family

CHICAGO — Weeks after three people were arrested in connection with the murder of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, 19, the slain mother's family says her infant son has also died due to the severe brain injury he suffered when his mother was killed.

The infant, not yet two months old, died Friday morning, the family announced, according to WGN. Baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez' funeral will be a private, family only event, the station reported.

Two women — a mother and daughter — are accused of strangling Marlen Ochoa-Lopez and removing the infant from her womb. A man is also accused of helping conceal the teen's death.

Police say the 19-year-old, who was nine months pregnant and also the mother of 3-year-old son Joshua, was lured to the killers' home via a Facebook group for moms. The teen had arranged to pick up baby clothes and supplies offered through the group, according to police.

Police believe Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was killed April 23, the same day she vanished. It's also the same day accused killer Clarisa Figueroa, 46, called paramedics to her home, claiming she had just given birth and the infant wasn't breathing.

In May, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez' body was found at the same Southwest Side home where she had vanished three weeks earlier.

On a GoFundMe page created for her family, husband Yovany Lopez thanked supporters for their prayers and donations, slated to go to the care of baby Yovanny Yadiel and the couple's older son.

"Thank you very much for the prayers and support that you have given me, I have no more words of thanks," Lopez wrote. "God bless you."
