CBP Seize 'Nonhuman Primate Meat' From Passenger At Chicago Airport

CHICAGO, IL — Customs and Border Protection agents were met with a surprise earlier this month when a passenger tried to bring an unusual prohibited item in their luggage from overseas.

Authorities say a passenger from Congo brought back 17 pounds of unknown plants, 11 pounds of beans with pests and four pounds of "nonhuman primate" meat.

A photo posted by CBP Chicago on social media of the meat shows what appears to be somekind of dead mammal with its limbs tied together.

A passenger from Congo believed the food they were bringing was fine; it was not," CBP Chicago said. "These items are prohibited, seized, & destroyed."
