This Type Of Business Is Being Targeted By Brazen Burglars: Chicago Police

The thieves have gone so far as to steal an entire video surveillance system that recorded them, police said.

CHICAGO — A trio of burglars is targeting laundromats — even going so far as to steal surveillance equipment that recorded them — in northwestern Chicago, according to police.

The thieves have struck three times in recent days in the Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods, entering the businesses through the back door or by breaking windows, police said.

They have stolen change machines, cash from registers and cash boxes, and, in one case, an entire video recording system that captured the incident, according to police.

The burglaries occurred at 3:09 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of West North Avenue, 10 p.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of West Diversey Avenue and 4:40 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 2600 block of West Division Street, police said.

The thieves were described as three males wearing dark clothing and gloves who travel in a white four-door car with a black roof, according to police.
