Man Faces First-Degree Murder Charges In Senior Facility Slayings: CPD

CHICAGO — A 33-year-old Berwyn man was due to appear in bond court on Thursday after he was arrested earlier this week in connection with the fatal shooting of two people at a senior facility apartment last week, Chicago Police said.

Ocie Banks was charged with two counts of first-degree felony murder in connection with the shootings of a 79-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman who were discovered on Sunday in the 1000 block of West Montrose, police said. The victims were identified as Ocie Banks Sr. and Sheila Banks.

Ocie Banks Jr. was arrested on Monday and charged. Police have not released any more information about the shootings.

Banks was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier this year in connection with the robberies of cell phone stores in Berwyn and Cicero in 2020 and 2021. He was indicted on three counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery, and four counts of carrying and brandishing a weapon during a crime of violence.
