Chicago Off-Duty Officer Shot During Street Altercation: CPD
The officer remains hospitalized after police said she was shot at several times, including in the arm, before being able to return fire.

CHICAGO — An off-duty Chicago Police Department officer was shot in the arm after being confronted by several individuals on Wednesday night, forcing the officer to return fire during the altercation, police officials said.
The incident took place at 9:16 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2200 block of West Maypole, Chicago Police said Wednesday night. Police said that the offenders fired several shots at the officer, who was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in good condition.
Police said a weapon was recovered at the scene but none of the offenders are in custody. Further details of the incident — including the comprehensive use of force investigation — are being investigated by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability with the full cooperation of the Chicago Police Department.

The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days. The matter remains under investigation, which will be handled by COPA, police said.
