Chicago Park District Announces Fall Registration

Online registration begins September 2; In-person registration begins September 4

Today, the Chicago Park District announced it will open registration for Fall programming this week. Online registration for parks west of California Avenue begins Wednesday, September 2nd; online registration for parks east of California Avenue begin Thursday, September 3rd. In person registration at all parks begin Friday, September 4th.

“Chicago parks have remained a source of respite and activity throughout the pandemic,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly. After seeing success with day camp and other summer programs, we are excited to continue offerings in neighborhood parks this Fall.”

This Fall, the District will offer limited in-person programming providing residents with opportunities to be active and engaged in a safe manner. Among this season’s offerings is a modified version of the Park Kids after school program will be offered at 127 parks across the city. Participants will engage in safe, socially distant activities including arts and crafts, non-contact sports, wellness and nature activities.

Fall programming, including Park Kids will run September 8th through October 19th. Spaces are limited. Program capacity is based on size of the facility in order to observe social distancing and other public health guidelines. Other Fall programs include tumbling, fitness classes, seasonal sports and advanced water safety, a virtual water safety program based on the American Red Cross water safety curriculum. The District strongly urges patrons to take precautions to protect their health and the safety of others while in our parks. Signage will be posted at every park facility to remind patrons of required safety measures. Face coverings are required at all times.

The District also urges patrons to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer frequently, avoid touching their face with unwashed hands and covering their noses and mouths when sneezing or coughing. Also, anyone who is feeling unwell should stay home, per Chicago Department Public Health order. All park fieldhouses will remain open to the public, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for washrooms and shelter only.
