CHICAGO — Cook County military veterans are eligible to take in some free baseball on Chicago’s South Side as part of a program being offered by the Chicago White Sox and the Cook County Clerk’s Office.

The promotion is good for one free ticket to any regular-season game played Monday-Thursday with the exception of seven home dates this season, county clerk Karen Yarbrough announced on Tuesday.

The ticket offer is good to both veterans and active-duty military and is being offered as part of the clerk’s office’s Veterans Discount Card program. Military members who have already signed up for the program are also eligible to receive a free Sox ticket by showing their discount card at Guaranteed Rate Field prior to the game they wish to attend.

Cardholders simply present their card at the Gate 4 box office window within two hours of the start of that day’s game. The only dates the free ticket promotion is not valid are on May 12, 24, 25, 26, and June 7,8, and 9.

“We are so proud to partner with the Chicago White Sox yet again to provide this wonderful benefit to our deserving veterans and members of the military,” Yarbrough said in a news release. “We thank (the Sox) for their unconditional support of our veterans and the military every step of the way.”
