Nearly 600 Flights Delayed Or Cancelled In Chicago Due To Fog
Dense fog blanketed the area Tuesday morning.
CHICAGO, IL — All inbound flights were grounded Tuesday morning at O'Hare and Midway airports as dense fog blanketed the area. A dense fog advisory was in effect until 10 a.m. for Cook, Boone, DuPage, Kane, McHenry and Winnebago counties.
The Federal Aviation Administration grounded incoming flights at both airports through 8 a.m. Although the advisory was allowed to expire at Midway, it continued at O'Hare past 8 a.m., the Chicago Tribune reported.
The ground stoppage, or halting of all incoming flights, meant that not all departing flights left on time, potentially causing travelers to miss connecting flights, according to the Tribune.
