Greenpeace Banner Hung From Trump Tower (VIDEO)
Seven people were arrested following the banner raising Friday afternoon.

CHICAGO, IL — Police arrested seven people Friday afternoon following the unfurling of a Greenpeace banner from Trump International Hotel and Tower, according to the Chicago Tribune. Two men and five women were arrested, and possible trespassing and damage to property charges are pending, the report added.
Activists hoisted the banner from the hotel's terrace restaurant just after 1:45 p.m. Friday, July 7. In photos posted online by the environmental group, a black arrow with the word "Resist" in it and an image of the Earth with "Defend" over it was raised just below Trump's name on the building, 401 N. Wabash Ave. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Chicago — or your neighborhood. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)

"The environment has always been an important frame for seeing justice and inequality in this country, and nobody understands that better than communities in Chicago," the group explained on its Facebook page for why it chose the president's Chicago hotel. "Greenpeace has organized and done direct actions with our allies in Chicago for years. We stood with the leaders of the Chicago environmental movement to close toxic garbage incinerators in Chicago in the 80s and 90s and more recently to shut down dirty coal plants. But the fact is, Chicago residents are some of the greatest advocates for justice and the environment on the planet. We all stand to learn from their resistance and courage."
