CHICAGO —For the second year in a row, a fest-goer died after suffering a medical emergency at Lollapalooza. Chicago's Office of Emergency Management confirmed that one person was at the four-day music fest on Saturday when he suffered a medical event and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died.

NBC Chicago reported that the victim was a 24-year-old man.

In 2018, a Mundelein teenager also died after suffering a medical emergency while attending Lollapalooza. Evan Kitzmiller, 16, was found unresponsive during the last night of the 2018 festival. The teen reportedly died from a drug overdose.

Four people had also been arrested as of Sunday morning at the fest and 30 people had been taken to area hospitals for reasons including "minor limb injuries," one case of substance abuse, a seizure and alcohol-related complications, according to the Chicago Tribune.

One of the arrests reportedly happened when a large swarm of young people were caught on video jumping over a fence at Grant Park and entering the festival illegally.

The reports of illness and arrests were way down in 2019, however. At Lollapalooza 2018, nearly 120 people were hospitalized — many due to the extreme heat — and seven were arrested.
