Missing 22-Year-Old Found Dead In Chicago River

CHICAGO — The search for a missing 22-year-old Chicago man ended Tuesday as the body of Esteban Uriostigue was found in the Chicago River, less than half a mile from the Jewel-Osco store where he was last seen on Friday night. Uriostigue vanished after texting a friend that he was leaving the grocery store at 2550 N. Clybourn Ave., police said.

On Tuesday, four days after he went missing, the 22-year-old was found at around 8:45 a.m. near the 1500 block of West Webster Avenue, according to ABC Chicago.

Uriostigue's family had made pleas for help finding him, saying it was out of character for him not to let family or friends know his whereabouts. On Monday,the FBI confirmed it had joined the search for the missing man.

On Tuesday, Uriostigue's family launched a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for funeral expenses, and thanked everyone who helped search for him.

"From the bottom of our hearts thank you for your support and may God bless you all," the family said. As of late Wednesday morning, nearly $8,500 had been donated to the campaign.
