Missing Teacher Found Dead: Report

CHICAGO — A missing Chicago teacher has reportedly been found dead in Lake Michigan.

Linda Brown, 53, was last seen leaving her Bronzeville home in the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive on Jan. 3, reportedly headed to an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park. She never showed up to the appointment.

Chicago police said Brown had been located, but did not say whether she was found alive or dead. Her family confirmed to Fox Chicago that her body had been recovered from the lake.

A source also confirmed to WGN that a body found near a lakefront beach is Brown's. A heavy police presence was seen around 31st Street Beach, with several areas closed off around 31st Street and Lake Shore Drive.

Initially, police said the 53-year-old was last seen leaving her Bronzeville home in the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive on Jan. 3, reportedly headed to an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park. She never showed up to the appointment.

Her husband, Antwon Brown, has told reporters that his wife had already left their home by the time he woke up on Jan. 3, taking her her purse, credit cards and car keys with her. She had reportedly been on medical leave for mental health issues, and was scheduled to return to work next week.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Brown parking her car around 3 a.m. Saturday and walking across the 35th Street pedestrian bridge, but not returning, her family told news outlets.
