Palatine Ambulance In Rollover Crash During Emergency Call: Cops

Three people were hurt in Thursday's accident, which also damaged two other vehicles.

PALATINE, IL — Three people were hurt in a Palatine ambulance rolled over during an emergency call Thursday after it was hit by a van near Palatine and Rohlwing roads, police said. Two village paramedics and the van's driver were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening, according to a Palatine police statement.

The accident happened at about 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, as the ambulance was traveling westbound on Palatine Road in response to an emergency call, police said. A white van traveling northbound on Rohlwing Road then hit the ambulance as it drove through Palatine-Rohlwing intersection, according to police. The crash caused the ambulance to roll on its side, and the van spun, knocking over a nearby light pole. Two other vehicles received minor damage after the van hit the pole, police said.
