Person Threatens To Jump From Kennedy Expressway Overpass
Police resolved the situation Wednesday, but authorities did shut down parts of the freeway and temporarily suspend Blue Line service.

CHICAGO, IL — A person threatened to jump Wednesday from the Kennedy Expressway overpass at West Addison Street, according to online reports. A photo taken by a motorist of the individual hanging from a restraining fence above the freeway was posted on Twitter. Authorities were able to resolve the situation without the person jumping, the Chicago Tribune reports.
CTA temporarily suspended service on the Blue Line between the Addison and Damen stations because of the situation, the agency said. Service resumed just after 7:10 p.m., but residual delays were expected. The Kennedy's southbound lanes also were closed because of the situation, and they were reopened just before 7:30 p.m., the Tribune reports.
Another photo from the scene posted online shows an inflatable air bag on the CTA tracks. Chicago fire and police units also are scene on the tracks and the overpass above.
