Police Officer Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver, Taken To Hospital: CPD

A gold sedan hit the on-duty officer and fled the scene, according to police.

CHICAGO — A Chicago officer was taken to a hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Monday afternoon, according to police.

The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Oakenwald Avenue in the Oakland neighborhood, police said. The on-duty officer was on foot and was hit by a gold sedan that fled the scene, according to police, who said the driver was unknown and no one was in custody as of Monday evening, but detectives were investigating.

The officer was brought to a hospital in good condition, police said.
