Scammers Impersonating IL State Departments In Phishing Schemes
Officials say many people are falling for it.
CHICAGO (CBS) — Lines were long Thursday at a Secretary of State’s office in Bridgeview as people headed back out to renew their licenses or get new IDs post-pandemic. Some scammers are taking advantage of just such lines and delays with text messages that might read, “Illinois Department of Transportation Driver License Waiver Validation. Validate your details below.”
That text is not really from IDOT, and it is actually an attempt to get personal information.
