Wiener's Circle Door Smashed By Brick-Wielding Maskless Customer

The popular Chicago hot dog stand posted video of a customer who became irate and thew snow at a worker after he was asked to put on a mask.

CHICAGO — The popular Chicago hot dog stand, The Wiener's Circle, is famous for doling out verbal abuse along its red hots.

But restaurant owners and Chicago Police are searching for man who threw a brick at the eatery’s door and snow at an employee after being told he needed to put on a mask. The Wiener’s Circle posted video of the incident, which took place at its Clark Street location around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

In the video, the man becomes visibly agitated when told he needed to put on a mask. He is seen gesturing toward the employee before walking out and grabbing snow. He is seen throwing snow at the employee twice. He later returned with a brick and throws it at the door, shattering the glass before running off, according to video posted on the Wiener's Circle Twitter feed.

The Wiener's Circle wrote on Twitter that everyone is safe and that the popular hot dog stand is grateful for the love and support of “Wienerheads”. The hot dog stand also posted a picture of a sign in its window reminding customers to wear a mask.

City of Chicago health officials said Wednesday that the city's mask mandate for indoor environments may be lifted soon if metrics continue to move in the right direction.

The Wieners Circle has used its sign as a home for political jabs and to target others like Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he contracted COVID-19. The eatery is now asking for help in locating the brick-thrower and has used its social media channels to post video of what they say is the man’s vehicle’s license plate.

As of Thursday, no one is in custody in relation to the incident, which is being investigated by Chicago Police. In a tweet, the restaurant wrote that the door is repairable and reminded everyone to stay safe.
