2019 Voters Guide: Chicago Heights

Chicago Heights residents head to the polls April 2 to vote for 23 candidates vying for 10 open seats. Here's what you need to know.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Election Day is Tuesday, April 2. This year, Chicago Heights voters will be electing a mayor, clerk and treasurer. The mayor's race is a contested race. Voters also will vote for aldermen in seven wards, with 12 candidates vying for those seats. There also are four write-in candidates for mayor and two for city clerk.
(Update: An earlier version of this story said five candidates were running for mayor. Joshua Deabels no longer is running for the mayoral seat)

Here's what you need to know before you head to the polls.

Voting logistics
Not registered to vote? Illinois is among the states that permits same-day registration. However, you can also register ahead online or in person. The Cook County Clerk's Office explains what you need to do that. Residents also can register to vote in person at the village hall. Not sure if you're registered? You can go here to check.
