Bloom Township Gives $50,000 In Free Gas Cards To Seniors
Hundreds of senior citizens showed up at the township center Tuesday morning to claim their $50 gas gift card from Bloom Township trustees.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Eligible senior citizens in Bloom Township were given $50 of free gas Tuesday morning by township trustees, officials said.
According to Bloom Township Supervisor Thomas Somer, all township residents ages 65 and up were invited to the Bloom Township Center Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive the $50 gift card.
A spokesman for the event told Patch the township was prepared to give away one thousand of the cards, which are eligible for use at Mobil and Speedway stations. Hundreds of senior citizens showed up to the center to claim theirs.

Trustees did not immediately respond to Patch's questions on if another gas giveaway will be held to disperse any remaining cards. The $50,000 for the program came from the general township fund.
