Stories worth talking about tonight:
Breastfeeding Mom and Gym Owner Locked in Battle
Mom says staff at a south suburban business wouldn’t let her breastfeed in a gym. The owner says adults aren’t allowed in the gym at all—breastfeeding or not. The woman has taken to social media to publicize what happened. People who’ve read her story have quite a bit to say, too, in our comments and on Facebook:
- Someone (Brittany Ulaszek) needs a little attention I guess....how ridiculous. They asked you to move out of the gym, not to pull your baby off your “boob”. You’re a classy little “former Olympic-level gymnast”.
- To me, it sounds like a blown-out-of-proportion attention-grabbing response to a simple misunderstanding.
- Her actions will backfire on her because the owner of the gym can sue her for libel and slander. It’s not as if she was asked to step outside in the cold or to take care of business in her vehicle. She was asked to finish feeding in a different area of the building . Rules are rules and need to be followed.
- My daughter went to This gym for gymnastics when she was young. This policy has been in place for a long time and it has nothing to do with breastfeeding, it has to do with safety.
