Chicago Heights School Districts Go Remote Due To Winter Storm

The storm is expected to hit Illinois Tuesday night. Check if your school district is conducting e-learning or closing below:

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Several local school districts are closing or conducting remote learning Wednesday due to a winter storm predicted to hit portions of Illinois.

District 194:

  • All District 194 students will attend remote learning Wednesday and Thursday.
  • All students will be required to log into their homeroom Google Classroom page by 7:50 a.m. both days.
  • Teachers and staff will be following the e-learning schedule.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 2, will remain an early release day at 1:30 p.m. for students.
  • Two days worth of school-provided meals were sent home with each student on Tuesday.

District 169:

  • Students will attend remote learning Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Parents and guardians can reach out to their student's school for more information.

District 168:

  • Students will attend remote classes Wednesday and Thursday.
  • The district's office will be operating remotely and can be reached at the same phone numbers as usual.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday activated 130 members of the Illinois National Guard to ensure that all state resources are in place to prepare for Winter Storm Landon. Forecasters are saying that certain portions of Illinois could see between 1-2 feet of snow between Tuesday night and Thursday.

Closer to Chicago, forecasters with the National Weather Service are expecting 5-11 inches of snow starting Tuesday night, with the heaviest expected south of the city. A second round of snow is expected to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday.

Central Illinois could see up to 20 inches of snow, with blizzard/whiteout conditions likely. Western Illinois and into the Chicago area will remain under winter storm warning, with heavy rain in Southern Illinois.
