Gun Charges For Chicago Heights Man Shot After Running From Police: Report

The incident happened in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago last Thursday. Police say the man didn't drop a gun when ordered.

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago Heights man shot after fleeing Chicago police faces felony gun charges, Fox Chicago reports.

McKale Mitchell, 34, of Chicago Heights, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer, two counts of possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, and an ordinance violation, Fox 32 Chicago reported.

Police were pursuing Mitchell in 0-100 block of West 111th Place in Roseland Thursday, for a possible connection with a recent string of robberies, according to the report.

Mitchell had a handgun that he refused to drop when told to do so. An officer shot Mitchell in the leg.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition, and was later charged.
