Pedestrian, 35, Hit And Killed By Car On Joe Orr Road: Police

Police said the man was walking in the 300 block of East Joe Orr Road Thursday morning when a car hit him. The death was ruled an accident.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — One man is dead after a crash Thursday morning on East Joe Orr road, Chicago Heights police confirmed.

The man, later identified by the Cook County Coroner's Office as 35-year-old Adam Ellerman, was walking on the side of the road at around 5:30 a.m. when a car struck him.

When they arrived at the scene, officials said they found the driver and car parked on the eastern side of the road at 319 East Joe Orr Road and saw Ellerman laying near the car.

Police took the man to Franciscan Health Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. According to the medical examiner, Ellerman's death was ruled an accident due to injuries from a car striking the pedestrian.

Chicago Heights police and the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team are working to investigate the crash and ask anyone who may have witnessed it to call detectives at 708-756-6422.
